Everything New...

Everything New...

I went for a walk the other day with my husband Bret. It was a cool brisk January morning and we were actually hiking up a hill near our home in a light foggy haze. It was like the air, the land, the plants, and even all living things were being cleansed by moisture. I could feel the pores on my skin open up as if to drink in the newness of the day and my lungs craved to breathe in the freshness of the air. My eyes were focusing on things closer around me and my mind was thinking about how to start the year anew. As we walked by a chaparral/creosote bush something caught my eye. Did I see what I thought I saw? Yes, with my focused eyes that usually were admiring the vistas miles in the distance, the fog was forcing me to look only at my immediate surroundings. There on the bush were the remnants of tiny blossoms of the year past. Each one was so laden with dew you could see the weight of it as if it was pulling on it or hanging on it for dear life. I felt it was as if the dew was saying "trust me...with the seed that you possess, the potential that is within you... and the moisture and nourishment I provide we can start again....New growth, new plant, new season, new blossoms, new year....everything new!

This year has started out much like that. I feel the years past have left me with seeds that if nurtured, will grow into a better and improved me....looking forward to it:)

What I Have Learned...
  • I have learned that one thing many of us avoid doing to be successful in something is the due diligence that a worthwhile goal deserves. We just want to get there without the work. But if it were to happen what would we really have?...Doing the work to achieve something and be successful in the effort provides us with a wealth of knowledge and experience we could not obtain any other way.
  • I have learned that although it seems at times that much of what we do is unappreciated, it is in that one little success, that moment when you see the good in your effort that you realize you would do it a hundred times over.
  • I have learned that even at my age I have newness in me...

What I have yet to learn...
  • I am still working on my mission statement and learning so much about me...
  • I have yet to learn how to make time for exercise every day.
  • I have yet to learn how to do financial statements with ease...

Spiritual Insights...
Luke 2:52
"And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man."

This reminds me that even the Lord himself grew and was learning throughout his mortal life. I believe he wants us all to do the same.

Goals...
  • Continue working on my mission statement.
  • Be brave in my schoolwork
  • Don't be afraid to dream!
