Turning 60
Turning 60...
I remember thinking 25 was years away...but it came and went..and so did another 25 years and now I have added 10 years on to that. I have found something really unexpected happened. I am embracing it wholeheartedly! More than ever, I realize there is no time to waste in life. Time is such a precious commodity but the quality of it is my choice. What I do with it is up to me. I still feel excited about new things like when a school year ends and a new one begins. I am just finishing a Semester and I have been a bit overwhelmed. But I am living proof, you can begin again and again and there is joy to be found in it.
The past few months have been really full of amazing experiences...especially the last few weeks. I shared some amazing moments with family and friends. Also this month I really took time to consider our country's amazing history. I was able to go to a crazy cool exhibit brought to town by Glen Beck. I learned a lot and really came to admire the many people even in my community who are sacrificing much to build an interest in our nation's history and remember what brought freedom to this land as well as those things we do not ever want to repeat.
How grateful I am for time. For time past, Time present, and Time future... 60 is just one moment in it.
What I have learned...
- I have learned that by practice I can remember things better.
- I have learned once again that anything I learn can be compared to a gospel principle.
- I have been reminded that my family is my greatest support ...I had to call on them often to help me over the past few months to do presentations and such.
- I have learned what makes one successful and what does not...and what I need to do to change some of my ways.
What I have yet to learn...
- How to use social media platforms sufficiently
- That I need to use math if I am going to remember it
- Blocking time and sticking with it having faith I can get what is needed done is the best practice for managing my time to get everything done.
- How to get back on track and keep on top of things.
- To be more humble in my efforts in how I feel about others
- What I need to plant in my garden for fall
Spiritual insights...
Acts 3: 6
"Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk."
This scripture speaks many things to me. Here Peter is healing a man giving him strength. I feel that many times it is not the money we give but the power and strength as true followers of Jesus Christ that allows us to lift others in their need.
Goals...
- Practice math just for fun!
- Not eat after 8 pm or before 8 am each day.
- Do something crafty this week.
